ABOUT THE CONFERENCE
The GACRAO Executive Committee has been working hard preparing the plans for the 2011 Annual Conference. The conference will be held October 9-11, 2011 at the Brasstown Valley Resort in the beautiful mountains at Young Harris, Georgia. The annual conference is an excellent opportunity for professional development and networking with our peers from around the state. Three pre-conference workshops are being offered this year including GISEM, WEALTH, and GAcollege411- Benefits to Your Institution in addition to the annual New Professional Training and Reception.
The hospitality committee has been hard at work to bring you a full slate of extracurricular activities including expanded networking opportunities, two evenings of entertainment, a welcoming hospitality suite and the headline entertainment- Ascension- on Sunday evening.
Don’t miss this amazing opportunity as we prepare to blaze the trail in enrollment services.
GACRAO SERVICE PROJECT This year the Executive Committee has selected S. A. F. E. (Support in Abusive Family Emergencies, Inc.) as our service project. Located in nearby Blairsville, GA, S.A.F.E. had the honor of serving 235 men and women and 155 children impacted by domestic violence and sexual assault through its emergency shelter, advocacy and legal assistance programs in 2010. The EC is asking that you support this service project by bringing school supply items to donate to S.A.F.E. when you check-in at the conference. We will have a donation box at the conference registration window. Take advantage of the back to school sales now and stock on a few items that you can donate to S.A.F.E. Needed items included paper, pencils, glue sticks, folders, crayons, markers, notebooks, books, board games, etc…. In addition to the school supply items, GACRAO will be donating $500 to the organization. Proceeds from the GACRAO store go towards this donation, so please shop at the GACRAO store in the vendor area while you are at the conference.
PAE ANNUAL CONFERENCE SCHOLARSHIP
The Professional Access and Equity Committee (PAE) is proud to announce the first annual PAE Annual Conference Scholarship. SUNDAY EVENING ENTERTAINMENT: ASCENSION
GACRAO’s 2011 Entertainment, Ascension, is a coterie of electrifying musicians ready to take you to another level. The name itself means to go higher. One of the south’s newest and hottest party bands with shows reminiscent of the classic performances of the past like Sly and the Family Stone, Funkadelic, and KC and The Sunshine Band. Their stage show is incredible and their musicianship is exceptional! The event will be held immediately following dinner on Sunday evening, under the stars and beautiful foliage of the North Georgia Mountains
